These are a sampling of the paintings that remain from years ago. My first show in the lobby of the Adelaide Court Theatre was a small fiasco because the director of one of the theatre companies housed there wanted my show shut down. The theatre company in question specialized in edgy political theatre, works by Dario Fo for example. The hypocrisy of the situation did not go unnoticed and a more savvy artist would likely have milked the situation. But I was young, tried to ignore the commotion and ultimately closed a week earlier than planned. The work is very tame by today’s standards but I guess in 1980 it was considered somehow obscene. The paintings all had amusing titles but most of them I’ve forgotten; the triptych at the bottom of the page was probably painted in about 1984 and is called the Party at the End of the World. There are still many paintings in storage (not photographed), and similar works that were painted recently have sold, so these do not appear here.
